Car Tech News - Well, Technically it's a Bicycle
Well, Technically it's a rocket powered bicycle.
Francois Gissy, a Frenchman, set a world record for the fastest motor powered bicycle today. He reached a speed of 207 mph and reached that in just 4.8 seconds. Absolutely incredible. And of course, he had to bring his friend along that owned a Ferrari just to beat his ass in a foot race.

Which city in the United States has the worst drivers?
I'd like to take a poll around the country to ask the question:
Which city in the United States has the worst drivers?
In my opinion, there is only one, indisputable answer. Atlanta, Georgia.
Road rage is not something that I should feel every day. But in Atlanta, yeah, that's what happens. Anyway, I always love to hear stories from people about how bad the drivers are that they've encountered. So feel free to comment and tell me what drivers did to piss you off today.
Also, I know I haven't posted anything in a while. Organic Chemistry and Physics II are like a full-time job. But I do have plans to start a complete design (possibly both interior and exterior) with all the minor details planned out. It's going to be a project that develops over time and won't be a quick one sketch drawing. I'm getting pretty excited just thinking about it.
Til next time,
Patrick.

Car Tech Update - Jay Leno Tests Carbon Fiber Wheels
September 9th, 2014
Carbon Fiber Tires
Jay Leno has outdone himself this time. Just over a week ago, Leno posted a new video on his YouTube channel showing off some new tires on his Porsche 911 GT3. The catch is that these tires are made entirely out of carbon fiber, making them incredibly lightweight. This helps with grip, ride, acceleration, braking... so pretty much everything that tires affect. The only bad thing is that you might not be Jay Leno, and you might not be able to pay the $15,000 sticker on a set of 4. But, these may be a nice addition to your supercar if you do have the cash.
Watch Leno burn some carbon in the video above.

PG Car Design - Weekly Update 9/7/2014
It's officially football season! My fantasy team is stacked, and I have Adrian Peterson. So basically I'm unstoppable. Other than that, not much has happened in the design front this week. Mazda unveiled its new design for MX-5 Miata, which is surprisingly stylish and I might not laugh if I saw a man driving it. Maybe still means maybe though.
2016 Mazda Miata Unveiled
What's in store for this week?

Haha, so what does that mean? Probably nothing. Because I'll be playing this all week. But hey, I may get around to drawing the Lykan Hypersport, priced at $3.4 million.
Stay Tuned.

How to draw a Ford F-150, Step-by-Step!
Today, I'll be giving you a step-by-step tutorial of how to draw the Ford F-150! This image above was my reference picture, and can be found at:
Begin with a baseline and your two tires that face toward you. The baseline is slightly above horizontal and notice how the back wheel is more shaped like an oval than a circle. To give it a realistic look, make the back wheel slightly shorter than the front.
Now we can add the inner part of the fenders and the bottom of the truck. The bottom of the truck runs almost parallel to the baseline. Also, we can add the bed of the truck because its pretty much a straight line that's also parallel to the baseline.
Here I added more details to the back bumper and the fenders. I also added more detail to the door/side of the truck. Pretty straight forward here, remember to always START LIGHTLY!
Now, we can add the windows and part of the windshield. We can also add the side view mirrors, which are very blocky and big on this truck. Make sure your side view mirrors go all the way to the second window.
Now, add the windshield and the roof. The roof is basically a horizontal line from the far end of the windshield to the back window of the truck. Notice that the hood of the car isn't a perfect straight line across.
Now this is the tricky part. Draw lightly, and experiment with how big you think the front of the truck should be. It may take a few tries to get it to look good, so don't get frustrated. The front bumper of the truck slants downward very slightly.
Here, I added the back tires, some silhouettes of some of the parts under the car, and the far side view mirror. Take your time with the shape of your tires, I kind of rushed this step. I also added some windshield wipers just for fun, so feel free to add those any time you want.
Now we can start on the details of the front of the truck. Notice how because we are looking at the truck from the side, the grille isn't exactly in the center, and the lights are the same size.
Here's some additional details to the front of the truck.
We're almost done with the outline. Here, I added the silhouette of the inside of the truck, and a few more details on the side of the truck (door handle, side skirt, etc)
Finally, use cross-hatching technique to shade in the grill, and draw the details of the rims. To draw the rims, start by drawing an oval in the very center of the rim, then evenly create spokes using trapezoids.
The rest of the steps are shading. Start with your darkest parts first and use another piece of paper underneath your drawing hand to avoid smudging. When shading, sometimes its a good idea to rotate your paper so that your can shade as accurately as possible. Using your finger or a smudging tool makes transitional shading look good.
And that's it! You've drawn the Ford F-150. Practice makes perfect!! Remember to always
-Start lightly
-Start with a baseline and tires and then go from there
-TAKE YOUR TIME! You want a quality project.

Car Tech Update - M600 Roadster . Still in the Works
August 27th, 2014
M600 Roadster by Noble is almost ready
British car manufacturing company Noble has announced that their new supercar (the M600 Roadster) that they spoke about a few years back now has enough demand from international buyers to go into production. The ticket price they slapped on these bad boys is 300,000E or around $450,000. So far, the car will only operate manually, but there has been some discussion of paddle-shifters.
Engine stats:
-650 HP
-4.4 Liter Twin-Turbo V8
-That's all you need to know.
The entire body is to be made out of carbon fiber, weighing about 2,600 lbs. Though there is no official release date, the Roadster should be released before the end of 2015.

Car Tech Update - 2015 Corvette Stingray.. 8-Speed
August 21st, 2014
It's 2013. Your new Corvette is a 7-Speed manual, a beautiful american hunk of awesome. But now fast-forward to 2014 and its the beginning of a new model year. And the new Stingray is about to blow your 2013 out of the water.
Check out this video of a test drive of the new 'Vette.
"GM says its new 8-speed Hydra-Matic 8L90 shifts gears 0.08 seconds quicker than Porsche’s PDK at wide-open throttle."
Ooooh, look out Porsche. 80 milliseconds on your ass.
The 2015 Corvette is fun to drive on the streets too. If you're in the buying market, this is one definitely to look out for.

PG Car Design - Weekly Update 8/17/2014
August 17th.. My birthday! ..And it was a good one. I got some tickets to go to Music Midtown at Piedmont Park in September, and I got a new set of professional colored pencils so that my car drawings can be extra dope.
My custom design just got a little bit of swag added to it. I'm going to pimp this ride with a metallic gold finish. Can't wait to complete the design.
Back to school next week, and I should be able to get a schedule down with the blog. I missed last week because of everybody going back to college, including my girlfriend. But I can promise that in 2 weeks, there will be another step-by-step guide of a car.
Peace,
Patrick

PG Car Design - Weekly Update 8/3/2014
This has been a very unproductive week sadly. I have probably taken more naps in this week than in my entire summer. Good thing I finally got up of my lazy ass yesterday and got school supplies for the upcoming fall semester, and started work on a portable USB charger. I got the idea off of instructables.com which is a great DIY technology website.
So, fun stuff. Anyway, hopefully next week I'll have a car drawing to show you guys.

PG Car Design - Weekly Update 7/27/14.
Not much has gone into car design this week; I've been in Pensacola, FL having a blast at the beach. I did find time before I left though, and here's a sketch of what I've been working on.
Hopefully I can finish this one up by next week to show everybody. Have an awesome week and don't waste the rest of your summer! Get out there and do something!

PG Car Design - Weekly Update 7/20/14.
It's hard to write blog posts when your summer is crazy busy. But hey, I'm going to try to write at least once a week to get this thing going.
This Week:
I finished a 2007 orange Corvette that I had been working on for some time. It's actually going to be a gift for my girlfriend's grandparents because they own this car. I was glad to get it done; I've been dying to move on to a new design.
A custom design.
A PG Car Design.
Well that's all I have for today. I'll see you next week.

A Dedication to Porsche
Porsche.
A name that has been associated with excellence and swag since 1931. Ever since I was young, my friends and family told me that if you had a Porsche.. well, you were the man. So today, I'm starting a series of posts dedicated to my favorite brands of cars. And first and foremost is the German-founded ..
"Porsche Automobil Holding SE"
North American Models:
The 911.
The Boxster/Cayman. (Also pictured above in my drawing)
The Panamera.
And finally, The Cayenne.
Good lord, I think I'm in heaven. There are of course variations of these vehicles that are too many to name. And this is because of Porsche's classic designs and innovation. Check out this link, and watch this video on 6 Principles of Porsche Design.

Audi A9 - Changing color roof and windshield?
Audi released some information today regarding their newest addition to the A-series, the 2018 Audi A9. Now this car is still in the conceptual stage, but the design has been fully rendered and is ready for us to droll at it.
Audi's plan with the incredibly sporty and futuristic sedan is to be competitive when the Porsche Panamera or the Lamborghini Estoque. From what I've heard, this bad boy has a windshield/roof that can changes colors and opacity.. as well as REPAIR ITSELF?! Apparently this is through some nanotechnology that is still deep underwraps and still in development.
However, this makes me really excited about the cars that we'll be seeing out of Audi and their competitors in the next 5 to 10 years.
Here's some more pics of the rendering:

Car Tech Update - Toyota's Qi Wireless Charging
Yes, the future is finally here. No more wires in your Toyota. Oh, wait, I don't own a Toyota, but hey, this technology is pretty cool. Audi better catch on before I drop my R8 for a Corolla. .. Just kidding.
Also, finals start this week, so I may not be posting for a while. But that's okay, chemistry is going to get smacked next week.
